It’s hard to believe that we have cycled through the Balkans and have arrived in Greece having ridden over 2,440 miles. We will soon be out of Europe and riding across Turkey. The ride through the Balkans has been amazing – at times hard, sometimes grim but mainly beautiful and spectacular especially climbing high into the mountains.

Montenegro to Albania. We set off in search of food and found a small motel at the side of the road - the owner didn’t speak English so I confidently ordered in German.

Day 22 was a rest day. We left the BnB and went in search of a campsite. Crossed the border into Slovenia leaving the lovely Italy behind. Ended up in a "family friendly" site just over the border.

France and Italy -
Cannes to Trieste. We spent day 13 resting in the hills surrounding Cannes. In the evening we thought it would be nice to visit Cannes – maybe a walk along the beach and dinner. However, we had to buy a can of tomatoes first! Simple enough?

A good start to the day as we cycled along a lovely flat cycle route part of the famous San Remo bike race. Then along the undulating and stunning Italian Rivera through the sea side towns and along the coast sometimes climbing the steep hills with views down to the sea.
